The building
at Hüüru.

A data centre has been operating at Alajaama tee 1 in Hüüru, Harju County, since 2022. It is now being upgraded so AI computing equipment can be installed inside it. This page lists what is documented in public sources, and separately what is not.

03Who owns it

Two shareholders, one supervisory board.

Correction we made

Some coverage describes Tensor Estate as the company that owns the data centre. The shareholder announcement is more precise: Tensor Estate is a minority shareholder in MCF Group Estonia, and the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund remains the majority shareholder.[5] We corrected an earlier version of this page that repeated the looser wording.

04The honest part

What is not public, and what we refuse to guess.

A lot of coverage fills these gaps with plausible sounding detail. We checked each of the following and found no public source, so the answer here is simply that it is not known.

How much of the 31.5 MW is for AI

The 31.5 MW figure covers the whole campus and predates the AI programme. No public source states how many megawatts the AI upgrade will make available.

Which chips will be installed

No vendor, model or quantity of GPUs has been announced. Reporting refers only to enabling AI computing capacity to be installed.[2]

Whether liquid cooling is installed

The operator describes duplicated cooling systems but does not specify direct liquid cooling.[3] Given AI rack densities, this is a reasonable question to ask, and we have no answer.

Whether waste heat is reused

Heat reuse into district heating is cited as an Estonian opportunity in general.[1][17] We found no public confirmation that this site does it today.

Phase capacity

Third party data centre registries list a first phase of around 7 MW of IT power.[16] The operator does not publish this, so treat it as unconfirmed.

Customers are described only as primarily Estonian so far, with the expansion aimed at international ones.[2] No names, contracts or prices are public.

05The country case

Why anyone would build this in Estonia.

The figures below are published by Tensor Estate, a party with an interest in the answer. We list them as their claims rather than as neutral findings.[1]

Read that last number carefully

Tensor Estate presents Estonia as 70% renewable.[1] That figure describes what the country generates. Elering, the grid operator, puts renewables at 68% of production but only 41% of consumption for 2025, because Estonia imports a large share of the electricity it uses.[18] For a data centre the consumption figure is the honest one, unless the site buys renewable supply under contract. Greenergy states its own supply is 100% renewable, which is a separate commitment from the national grid mix.[3]

A grid change worth knowing about

On 8 February 2025 the Baltic states disconnected from the Russian-controlled BRELL power system, and the next day they synchronised with the Continental European grid. The switch happened without blackouts.[19] For anyone weighing a long-term power contract in Estonia, this is the single largest change to the country's electricity picture in decades, and it happened after most published comparisons were written.

Estonia is a member of both the European Union and NATO. Tensor Estate also states that on a 100 MW facility the construction cost difference alone is worth €50 to 80 million against Nordic markets, and attributes its construction figures to Eurostat price level indices for 2024 and its defence figures to the NATO Defence Expenditure Report 2024.[1]
